Library Usage Policy

Welcome to the Cameron-J. Jarvis Troup Municipal Library.
We would like to share the following information with you to ensure a positive experience in our library.

Our hours:

Tuesday 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Thursday 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
We are closed on Sunday and Monday.

 

Check-out Policy:

Books and audios are checked out for two (2) weeks.
Movies are due back in one (1) week.
Items can be renewed up to three (3) times.

You may call or e-mail the library to renew your items.
If renewing via e-mail, you will receive a response with the new due date once the items are renewed.

Items that are not returned by the due date will incur a late fee.
Books and audios are $0.10 per day.
Movies are $0.25 per day

Library Card Policy:

Anyone may obtain a library card. Services will not be denied or abridged because of religious, racial, social, economic, or political status; or because of mental, emotional, or physical conditions; age; or sexual orientation.

The library will not restrict a patron's access to library materials due to age. If a parent is concerned about their child's access to certain materials, they need to accompany the child to the library and assist them in making their selections.

Computer users must be registered patrons of the library, and they must read and sign the Computer Use and Internet Access Agreement Forms. Copies of the computer policy are available upon request at the front desk.

To use the internet computers, children under the age of twelve (12) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or by an adult approved by the parent.

Possession of a valid library card in good standing is required to borrow materials and/or use the computers at the Cameron-J. Jarvis Troup Municipal Library. Each card application must be signed, constituting an agreement to abide by the rules set forth by the Board of Trustees. Patrons must fill out an application form to register for a library card and provide at least one (1) form of valid identification (See list below).

Acceptable forms of identification include:
1. Valid Texas driver's license
2. Texas I.D.
3. Student I.D. with photograph
4. Other picture I.D. with address

Patrons under the age of eighteen (18) must have their parent or guardian complete and sign the library application form and provide the requested identification.

The parent and/or legal guardian will be held responsible for all items borrowed and for any overdue fines, damages, or losses incurred while the materials are on loan to their child/children.

In order to protect your library account, please do not allow others to use your card.

New cardholders are limited to two (2) items on their first visit. Only (1) of these items may be a DVD. After the first visit, patrons may check-out up to five (5) items with a limit of two (2) DVDs. Patrons who have established accounts will only be issued a library card if the account has no past due fines. cards will be issued for one (1) year. At the expiration date, library staff will renew the card after verifying the address and phone number and collecting any fines owed on the account. If the patron moves, we request that the new contact information be given to the library staff as soon as possible.

The first library card will be issued at no charge.
A fee of $1.00 will be charged for a replacement card.
